Pseudonym

ANTON+MATZKAIM is just a working pseudonym that I use for artistic things.

Using my real name everywhere started to feel awkward. It’s long, very tied to documents, work, and formal context. For music, visuals, personal projects, I wanted something simpler and more neutral.

Why ANTON

ANTON is just my first name. Short, clear, no meaning attached. It works everywhere and doesn’t try to be anything special.

How MATZKAIM appeared

MATZKAIM came from my last name, Matskevich, but not as a straight shortening.

The idea was to change the sound. Make it harder and a bit more Germanic, and at the same time remove the obvious Slavic ending.

What I actually did:

• Cut off the -evich part because it immediately gives away origin
• Kept the matsk sound since it’s already sharp and works well phonetically
• Switched ts to tz because that spelling is typical for German and looks more technical
• Added kaim at the end to get a clean second syllable that doesn’t belong to any specific language

So it became MATZ-KAIM. Two strong syllables, no soft endings.

It’s close enough to my real name to feel connected, but abstract enough to use for music and visuals without dragging personal or professional context into it.

Why the plus sign

The plus sign just means it’s not a replacement.

ANTON is me. MATZKAIM is the constructed name I use for artistic needs.

I use ANTON+MATZKAIM when a single name feels limiting. That’s it.
