how the garden grows

one seed grows one tone and one melody. an algorithm places the notes on a grid of sixteenths, the groove shifts them, and then every note comes back as echoes: each repeat moved by the same interval again, so a single note becomes a chord climbing away from it. the room is a bank of combs tuned to the scale, so the space hums the key back. every knob renders the whole loop again in a few tens of milliseconds and the playing loop is swapped without a click. on the screen: the waveform in red, notes as white dots, their echoes as fading smaller dots where and how high they land
