i asked where one of the starting sounds came from, and the answer was: it’s a formula. no sample, no patch. a function of time.
i wrote back in capitals that this is what i need. make a generator of kicks like that, as its own instrument.
MATH·77 is a kick written down. the whole hit is one closed formula of t. there’s nothing random inside, so the same line gives the same kick forever, dry and exact. it’s tied to the bpm. a fold control takes it from a clean note to something close to noise, still without a single random number.
